Blogging is my outlet, it keeps me sane. Will there be a lot of random rage rambling? Probably. Will there be some emo posts? Probably. Will I post about hockey? Duh. Stop by and sit a spell. Opinions/comments welcome unless you are a jackass. :) Disclaimer: I swear a lot and may mention stuff that could potentially offend. Don't say I did not warn you :)

Branching out, Magic 8 ball
Will I forget I have done this in about an hour and start ranting again? Magic 8 ball says 'it is certain'. If Magic 8 ball says it, clearly it is true ;-)
I wonder if I can find a magic 8 ball to put on here? I had one a long time ago on another blog so surely I can. Who doesn't love magic 8 ball? C'mon.
I need to pay more attention to the bands my kids listen to cuz....
.....this guy is hot. I am SO FAR out of Avenge Sevenfold's "demographic" but I already thought they were a pretty good band (you should hear some of the crap my kids listen to...ooph) and now to see this guy? Holy cow. Who knew - probably a bazillion teenage girls but hey, I at least I figured it out too.
How did I discover this? 'That Metal Show'. Thank you, Eddie Trunk. LOL

Lyrics O'The Day
Song: I Hope You Dance
Artist: Lee Ann Womack
source for lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/leeannwomack/ihopeyoudance.html
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
GOD forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Livin' might mean takin' chances but they're worth takin',
Lovin' might be a mistake but it's worth makin',
Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin' out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone.)
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
Dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance.
I hope you dance....I hope you dance..
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along
Tell me who wants to look back on their years and wonder where those years have gone)

When I'm wiser and I'm older
All this time I was finding myself
And I didnt know I was lost

Weekend
A string of 12-14 hr work days plus very little sleep = sleeping just about all of Saturday and late into Sunday morning. I had things I needed to do this weekend but did none of them cuz I had some serious exhaustion going on and I hit the wall. I feel like I caught up on sleep but now it is bedtime on Sunday night and I am wide awake. I cant do another week like last week so lets hope the cycle is not starting again.
E's team won their game today so that is good, they needed the win. I hope they can build on the progress shown today. I like to watch her play, it never ceases to amaze me how well she handles high pressure situations that I wouldve never been able to do at her age.
I was able to catch the two new episodes of 'Girls' tonight. I love/hate that show, will explain that one another day. 'Shameless' started back tonight too. I love that show. I may watch it if I dont get sleepy soon.
What other random things can I ramble about here? Hmmm...I know, I will just do a random list of things..whatever comes to mind. Why not?
1) Energy drinks are BAD for you, dont drink them. And for sure dont let your kids drink them. Seriously, bad!
2) You hear some really interesting stuff when your daughter plays on a boys hockey team. Example: a discussion about what could be used to protect your junk if you forget your jock - a shoe, puck, tshirt, can of coke....no, I am not kidding. I heard this and then heard my daughter say "a shoe? Really?" Hockey kids, gotta love 'em!
3) I need to try harder to overcome my absolute lack of interest in being social. It is actually not lack of interest, it is lack of energy to be totally honest. Either way, gotta try harder. Isolation is not good for anyone.
4) I think I have seen just about every episode of 'Law & Order'.
5) I know I have seen every episode of 'Friends'...multiple times.
6) Massages freak me out. (I know, I am weird)
Thankfully, I am starting to feel sleepy. If I go to sleep right now, I will get...7 hrs of sleep. Go.

20 Meditation Tips For Beginners
Source: http://zenhabits.net/meditation-for-beginners-20-practical-tips-for-quieting-the-mind/
Meditation is the art of focusing 100% of your attention in one area. The practice comes with a myriad of well-publicized health benefits including increased concentration, decreased anxiety, and a general feeling of happiness.
Although a great number of people try meditation at some point in their lives, a small percentage actually stick with it for the long-term. This is unfortunate, and a possible reason is that many beginners do not begin with a mindset needed to make the practice sustainable.
The purpose of this article is to provide 20 practical recommendations to help beginners get past the initial hurdles and integrate meditation over the long term:
1) Make it a formal practice. You will only get to the next level in meditation by setting aside specific time (preferably two times a day) to be still.
2) Start with the breath. Breathing deep slows the heart rate, relaxes the muscles, focuses the mind and is an ideal way to begin practice.
3) Stretch first. Stretching loosens the muscles and tendons allowing you to sit (or lie) more comfortably. Additionally, stretching starts the process of “going inward” and brings added attention to the body.
4) Meditate with Purpose. Beginners must understand that meditation is an ACTIVE process. The art of focusing your attention to a single point is hard work, and you have to be purposefully engaged!
5) Notice frustration creep up on you. This is very common for beginners as we think “hey, what am I doing here” or “why can’t I just quiet my damn mind already”. When this happens, really focus in on your breath and let the frustrated feelings go.
6) Experiment. Although many of us think of effective meditation as a Yogi sitting cross-legged beneath a Bonzi tree, beginners should be more experimental and try different types of meditation. Try sitting, lying, eyes open, eyes closed, etc.
7) Feel your body parts. A great practice for beginning meditators is to take notice of the body when a meditative state starts to take hold. Once the mind quiets, put all your attention to the feet and then slowly move your way up the body (include your internal organs). This is very healthy and an indicator that you are on the right path.
8) Pick a specific room in your home to meditate. Make sure it is not the same room where you do work, exercise, or sleep. Place candles and other spiritual paraphernalia in the room to help you feel at ease.
9) Read a book (or two) on meditation. Preferably an instructional guide AND one that describes the benefits of deep meditative states. This will get you motivated. John Kabat-Zinn’s Wherever You Go, There You Are is terrific for beginners.
10) Commit for the long haul. Meditation is a life-long practice, and you will benefit most by NOT examining the results of your daily practice. Just do the best you can every day, and then let it go!
11) Listen to instructional tapes and CDs.
12) Generate moments of awareness during the day. Finding your breath and “being present” while not in formal practice is a wonderful way to evolve your meditation habits.
13) Make sure you will not be disturbed. One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is not insuring peaceful practice conditions. If you have it in the back of your mind that the phone might ring, your kids might wake, or your coffee pot might whistle than you will not be able to attain a state of deep relaxation.
14) Notice small adjustments. For beginning meditators, the slightest physical movements can transform a meditative practice from one of frustration to one of renewal. These adjustments may be barely noticeable to an observer, but they can mean everything for your practice.
15) Use a candle. Meditating with eyes closed can be challenging for a beginner. Lighting a candle and using it as your point of focus allows you to strengthen your attention with a visual cue. This can be very powerful.
16) Do NOT Stress. This may be the most important tip for beginners, and the hardest to implement. No matter what happens during your meditation practice, do not stress about it. This includes being nervous before meditating and angry afterwards. Meditation is what it is, and just do the best you can at the time.
17) Do it together. Meditating with a partner or loved one can have many wonderful benefits, and can improve your practice. However, it is necessary to make sure that you set agreed-upon ground rules before you begin!
18) Meditate early in the morning. Without a doubt, early morning is an ideal
time to practice: it is quieter, your mind is not filled with the usual clutter, and there is less chance you will be disturbed. Make it a habit to get up half an hour earlier to meditate.
19) Be Grateful at the end. Once your practice is through, spend 2-3 minutes feeling appreciative of the opportunity to practice and your mind’s ability to focus.
20) Notice when your interest in meditation begins to wane. Meditation is
hard work, and you will inevitably come to a point where it seemingly does not fit into the picture anymore. THIS is when you need your practice the most and I recommend you go back to the book(s) or the CD’s you listened to and become re-invigorated with the practice. Chances are that losing the ability to focus on meditation is parallel with your inability to focus in other areas of your life!
Meditation is an absolutely wonderful practice, but can be very difficult in the beginning. Use the tips described in this article to get your practice to the next level!

Ah...I derailed a bit as I had started down the want to be more social path and ended up talking about work. Anyway...I sometimes have to force myself to get out and go do things. It is not that I don't want to go do stuff but I guess I just got in the habit of not really doing anything that was not directly related to one of the kids. I think it was Icepacolpyse that really made me realize I cannot be a hermit. I did not (could not, too dangerous cuz if I fell that soon after neck surgery...well, it would not have been good) leave the house for FOUR DAYS. Having the option to leave but not doing it is one thing but not really having the option to leave super sucks and I got some serious cabin fever. It pretty much made me realize I should be thankful I am able to get out of the house and stop being so anti-social. We'll see how that works out.
First "goal" to bite the dust for 2014? Less swearing. Of course watching the Winter Classic is really not the best situation for me to go cold turkey hahaha Oh well, 364 more days in this year so I'm sure I can reduce the swearing....after hockey season :) Pretty sure my neighbors think I finally snapped cuz I did start out yelling out random words instead of swearing...just any word that I could think of so I strung together some gems like "DENIED! You bunch of ham bot nuggets" Yeah, I know...but it was not swearing. And then the Wings scored LOL Yes, I am rooting for the Leafs to win. I am not really a Leafs fan but I strongly dislike the Wings and I love Bernier - great goalie and positively dreamy ;-) Speaking of dreamy goalies, I see a post in my future ranking current NHL goalies on a hotness scale hahahaha No, I am not kidding and yes I actually do know the game so I'm not one of "those chicks".
I will attend a Winter Classic one of these years. Oh yes, it will happen and it will be amazing. AH-MAY-ZING! If the Flyers play in another one, which I'm sure they will at some point, I am determined for E and I to go.
They announced the US Women's Olympic team for Sochi during the 2nd intermission, it made me feel proud and inspired that these girls are getting to play the game they love on the biggest stage available for female hockey players. As the mother of a female hockey player, it is just a great thing to see because it gives you hope that your daughter's hockey dreams will come true too. I hope girls/women's hockey continues to grow because it is a great sport and the girls have the same passion for the game as boys do but the boys have far more opportunities. One day though...one day.
Ok...enough for now. Hope everyone has a happy, healthy, safe, peaceful and prosperous 2014!
